The seats are filled in the registration order. If a cancellation is received five (5) business days prior to the course, the course fee will be refunded with the exception of a handling fee of 10 €. For no-shows and cancellations after the cut of date no refunds will be made. Registration can be transferred to someone else from the same organization without additional charge.

Payment can be made with electronic invoicing, credit card, or direct bank transfer. Note that for electronic invoicing you need the operator and e-invoicing address (OVT code) of your organization. Please also note that invoice reference is needed for electronic invoicing in your organization, so please have this available when registering.

The overarching goal of this course is to provide a comprehensive introduction to scientific visualization using ParaView. It is intended for an audience of computational as well as application scientists, engineers, post-docs, and students with a background or an interest in numerical simulation. The participants are encouraged to communicate in advance any specific requests, or topics of interest concerning the course.

Prerequisities

Some understanding of scientific computing and/or modeling concepts (geometry, meshes, data attributes) is necessary. Knowledge of C++ is not required, but the Python language will be used for parts of the course.

Program

Day 1

  • Part 1: Introduction (background, goals, and overview)
  • Part 2: The ParaView client (VTK fundamentals, the visualization pipeline, data filtering, views and representations, data queries and selection)

Day 2

  • Part 3: Extending ParaView (programmable filters, VTK Python scripting, ParaView plugins)
  • Part 4: Wrapping Up (summary, open forum, perspectives)
