CSC's technology platforms secure

CSC's ICT Platforms unit meets the raised information security requirements contained in the government's VAHTI guidelines. Inspecta Sertifiointi Oy audited a total of 138 different requirements, which also encompassed premises, personnel security, operations, and management.

"We have a strong security culture. Our operations have been evaluated by external auditors several times already, enabling us to demonstrate that we are a trustworthy partner," says Urpo Kaila, Head of Security at CSC.

The audit was carried out at CSC's request. "The Government Decree on Information Security governs public administration authorities, so we're not directly obligated by it. However, our clients include many official organisations that must meet the minimum standards laid down in the VAHTI guidelines," says Kaila.

CSC's data centres have also been granted the ISO/IEC 27001 certificate for information security management systems. "The latest audit is not directly linked to our earlier ISO 27001 certification, but both demonstrate that we're engaging in long-term efforts to ensure security-oriented operations," says Kaila.

"Of course, good results in security audits don't guarantee that we are immune to hacking or service breaks, but it does show that we are systematically preparing ourselves for such risks. In case of possible attack we can act promptly," Kaila continues.
