Puhuri - Puhuri
LUMI EuroHPC supercomputer will be taken into usage during the spring 2021 and is a new service for the 9 LUMI member countries. LUMI needs central services for user identity, authentication and authorisation, including resource allocation management. Currently most of the national partners have their own portals to manage these. The member countries may integrate their own user and resource management systems into LUMI via Puhuri APIs. Thus, thanks to Puhuri, duplicating the efforts will be avoided.
Currently there are no generic AAI solutions (identity management, group management) for services like LUMI available. There are community specific AAI services. Therefore, Puhuri is needed. However, Puhuri can collaborate and align with the other AAI systems such as FENIX and ELIXIR AAI.
In addition, other stakeholders, e.g., EOSC-Nordic, can benefit from solutions developed by Puhuri and promote their adoptions, e.g., by EOSC.
Academic Institutions can also benefit from Puhuri Services for national and cross-organisational usage. Puhuri can be a ready service to avoid inventing an ad-hoc solution. The national AAI solutions and portals will be connected via the middle layer Puhuri solution.
The focus of the Puhuri project is to develop and deploy a common service layer for the LUMI EuroHPC supercomputer for user, project, and resource allocation. The 1 common service layer will provide integration to all these actors through APIs, and webinterfaces. Therefore the LUMI partner organisations can integrate to the LUMI via their existing user and resource management portals. Puhuri technology stack will be made available for other NeIC projects and national serviceproviders, but the LUMI supercomputer is the priority. For Example EOSC-Nordic WP3 has related themes regarding EOSC and interoperability, WP4 for the data management and also WP6 Knowledge Hub might possibly include Puhuri AAI Services. The recent Virtual Access model of EU will be investigated if Puhuri can technically support that for the service providers. Puhuri clarifies the opportunities to collaborate with FENIX project, which already has some of the functions for the two other large EuroHPC projects.
