Yhteistyössä järjestetyssä työpajassa pohdittiin, kuinka CSC:n palvelut voisivat nyt ja tulevaisuudessa tukea ammattikorkeakoulujen TKI-toimintaa parhaalla mahdollisella tavalla.

Korkeakoulutuksen IT-ammattilaiset koolla EDUCAUSE-konferenssissa
Digitaalinen murros ja kehittyvä teknologia tuovat korkeakouluille entistä enemmän mahdollisuuksia muuttua ja kehittyä. Tulevaisuuden koulutukselta halutaan avoimuutta ja yhteisöllisyyttä. Vuotuinen EDUCAUSE-konferenssi järjestettiin 30.10.–2.11. Yhdysvalloissa Denverissä. Tapahtuma toi yhteen yli 8000 korkeakoulutuksen IT-ammattilaista sekä palveluntarjoajaa ympäri maailman vaihtamaan tietoa ajankohtaisista teemoista kuten digitaalisesta murroksesta ja jatkuvasta oppimisesta.

The digital leap of higher education institutions builds on a shared vision – time to ensure a common path
In May, a two-day seminar on the evolving digital service environment for higher education institutions brought together approximately 250 higher education experts. The aim of the seminar was to promote the vision for higher education and research in 2030, and its crosscutting themes were interoperability and joint reference architecture work. The challenges related to the harmonization of the digital service environment were one of the central themes addressed during the seminar.

Using learning analytics attracts more interest than ever before. The data collected from the learning process is available through analytical means and can be used to support self-regulation in learning and knowledge management, for example. Learning analytics can be used to detect and solve problems in the organization of teaching and to prevent dropping out of studies. A large number of projects are under way, and joint operating models are being sought both nationally and internationally, for example, for the ethical use of data.

Expertise in higher education institution authentication being brought to primary schools
Efforts to solve the problem of electronic user authentication in universities and universities of applied sciences were begun nearly twenty years ago. Primary and secondary school actors have occasionally expressed interest in Haka, a network comprised of Finnish higher education institutions and partners, whose member organization users can access Haka services using the login for their own institution. A couple years ago, the Ministry of Education and Culture Department for General Education and Early Childhood Education began to fund the development of a solution for use in organizations of primary and secondary education – MPASSid.

The Basic Education Wikileap project is authoring comprehensive school textbooks for the Finnish WikiLibrary. The material is free and available to all online regardless of time or place. The purpose of the WikiLibrary is to make information easy to share, find and use. The whole premise of the project is based on the idea that 'Each gives a little – everyone gains a lot'.

The future of exams is being made today
Deliberations on the fate of the old exam system, which relied on paper and envelopes, used by universities began in 2013. The alternatives were either developing the old system or building a new one, and the higher education institutions chose the latter. This is how EXAM was born. It’s the only large-scale examination system in Finland that can be integrated in the institutions’ basic systems.
