Research, Development & Innovation Activities

CSC proactively seeks out opportunities to innovate and develop new services for our customers. To fulfill our special task to support the higher education and research we systematically monitor what can be future key technologies and services, and we initiate and take part in collaborative R&D projects at the cutting edge to benefit of research and education. CSC seeks much of its external Research, Development & Innovation (RDI) funding from Academy of Finland, Business Finland, Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (H2020), European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Nordic e-Infrastructure Collaboration (NeIC).

We take part in nearly 50 externally funded RDI projects together with our partners. This collaboration brings direct benefits to Finland as it enables us to offer state-of-the-art services, such as world-class computing capacity and data services, directly to the researchers. In addition, the projects allow us to bring our stakeholders’ views into international discussions on common standards and policies. All with the aim to enhance the competitiveness, performance and quality of European science, and society at large.

B1MG

The Beyond 1 Million Genomes project is helping to create a network of genetic and clinical data across Europe. The project provides coordination and support to the 1+MG Initiative and will create long-term means of sharing data and enabling access beyond 1 million genomes.

EOSC-Life brings together the 13 Biological and Medical ESFRI research infrastructures to create an open collaborative space for digital biology. EOSC-Life implements the Life Science part of the EOSC under coordination of ELIXIR, European infrastructure for Life Science Information.

HEAP will provide a research resource for the integrated and efficient analysis of the human exposome. HEAP will launch a state-of-the-science informatics infrastructure composed of prime ICT resources, accessed through a software platform to provide data warehousing and applied AI.

The aim of INTERVENE is to build the largest pool of health data to date and integrate longitudinal and disease-relevant -omics data into genetic risk scores with unprecedented potential for prediction, prognosis, and personalised treatments of complex and rare diseases.
