The European Infrastructure of Open Screening Platforms for Chemical Biology

EU-OPENSCREEN (EU-OS) is a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) founded in April 2018 by seven European Countries: the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Poland and Spain. Since then, Denmark and Portugal have also joined as full members.

• A European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) for chemical biology, supporting life science research and its translation to medicine and agriculture.
• A Research Infrastructure (RI) of open screening and medicinal chemistry platforms, which enables small molecule-related studies in Chemical Biology.
• The impact of chemical biology is felt all the way from the discovery of better medicines to treat humans and animals to the identification of safer pesticides to protect vital crops.

EU-OPENSCREEN-DRIVE (EU-OS-DRIVE) is a (H2020) INFRADEV-3 EU project which will enhance the sustainability and operational excellence of EU-OPENSCREEN and its services.

It will thus underpin its mission to advance the understanding of human health and the interconnection between a healthy environment and food supply by using small chemical molecules as a basis for the development of new innovative research tools.

The aims of EU-OS-DRIVE are:

• Open access to Europe's leading screening and medicinal chemistry groups.
• A chemically diverse EU-OS compound collection.
• Open access to EU-OS bioactivity database.
• Accelerating the implementation of EU-OS and promoting the early utilization of the RI.

It builds a sustainable European infrastructure for chemical biology, supporting life science research with innovative chemical tools and bioactivity data and its translation to society, environment and medicine.

CSC participates in the development of Excellence in ERIC operations and management as well as improving data utilisation and impact for users, which includes:

• Promoting standardisation of data analysis across the network and within the community.
• Developing EU-OPENSCREEN´s data management plan.
• Implementing FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) data principles.
• Facilitating data transfer and interoperability between EU-OPENSCREEN partner sites, ERIC database (ECBD) and European and global data resources (ChEMBL, PubChem, EOSC).
• Ensuring long-term sustainable public availability of EU-OPENSCREEN data and maximising the re-use of data by the wider scientific community.
