High-Performance Digitisation

High-Performance Digitisation initiative creates an intelligent annotation pipeline and a corresponding service for processing and enriching archived material, such as scanned newspapers, books and official documents. This material is digitised in large scale but the usability of the archives could and should be much higher. The new pipeline runs in a supercomputing environment and uses high-performance GPU accelerated machine learning methods for computer vision and artificial intelligence based annotation.

NOMAD – Novel Materials Discovery

The NOMAD (Novel Materials Discovery) project develops "big-data analytics" for materials science. Essentially every new commercial product, be they smart phones, solar cells, batteries, transport technology, artificial hips, etc., depends on improved or even novel materials. Computational materials science is increasingly influential as a method to identify such critical materials for both R&D.
