Tutkimus-, kehitys- ja innovaatiotoiminta

CSC etsii aktiivisesti mahdollisuuksia uusien innovaatioiden ja palveluiden kehittämiseksi asiakkaillemme. Tehtävämme on pitää Suomi tutkimuksen kärkimaana. Seuraamme järjestelmällisesti erilaisia rahoitusmahdollisuuksia tuodaksemme kansainväliset huippuinnovaatiot suomalaisen korkeakoulusektorin käyttöön ja osallistuaksemme tulevaisuuden avainteknologioiden ja -palveluiden kehittämiseen. Suurimpia tutkimus-, kehitys- ja innovaatiohankkeidemme rahoittajia ovat Suomen Akatemia, Business Finland, NeIC sekä Euroopan unionin CEF-, Horisontti 2020-, Horisontti Eurooppa- ja EARK-ohjelmat.

Osallistumme yli 60:een ulkoisen rahoituksen tutkimus-, kehitys- ja innovaatiohankkeeseen yhdessä kumppaneidemme kanssa. Tämä yhteistyö auttaa meitä tarjoamaan johtavia palveluita, kuten maailmanluokan laskenta- ja datanhallintapalveluita, suoraan suomalaisille tutkijoille. Lisäksi hankkeiden avulla tuomme suomalaiset näkökulmat kansainväliseen keskusteluun yhteisistä standardeista ja käytännöistä, mikä lisää Suomen kilpailukykyä ja edesauttaa laajasti suomalaista yhteiskuntaa.

AIKA

The AIKA project will facilitate digital transition of the Kainuu region by establishing new data-driven solutions for business and industry, by building connections to national and international networks, and by planning for long-term exploitation of the AIKA Ecosystem.

BioExcel-3 will grow and sustain the Life Science HPC community in Europe, and its success will be measured by the ability to support codes and train scientists who produce almost 10,000 scientific papers and numerous industrial projects every year.

The CEMIS-UDDA project aims to increase data expertise and to apply existing knowledge in a focused manner for the measurement of sports as well as to develop technology, measurement methods, and analytics to support the ancillary services and environment for Nordic skiing and sports tourism in Vuokatti.

The scientific ambition of ChEESE-2P is to prepare 11 community flagship codes to address 12 domain-specific Exascale Computational Challenges, adding to the areas covered during the first implementation phase with two additional disciplines (geodynamics and modeling of glacier hazards).

Climate DT

Climate change adaptation DT is one of the first DTs developed within the European Commission's Destination Earth initiative. Climate DT will design and implement a pre-exascale climate information system that can be used to assess impacts of climate change and different adaptation strategies at local and regional levels over multiple decades.

The primary goal of DeployAI is to build, deploy, and launch a fully operational AI-On-Demand platform (AIoDP) promoting trustworthy, ethical, and transparent European AI solutions for use in the industry, mainly for SMEs and the public sector.

Kajaani DC Ecosystem

The project's aim is to significantly strengthen Finland's and especially Kajaani's role in the European and global high-performance computing (HPC) ecosystem. The main goal of the project is to strengthen the data center ecosystem in Kainuu by attracting new companies and investments to the Kainuu region.

The third phase of the Centre of Excellence in Simulation of Weather and Climate in Europe (ESiWACE) focuses on the support of the weather and climate modeling community to reach a higher readiness level regarding exascale supercomputing and knowledge transfer between the different Earth system modelling centres and teams across Europe.

The European High Performance Computing Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) will pool European resources to develop top-of-the-range exascale supercomputers for processing big data, based on competitive European technology. One of the pan-European pre-exascale supercomputers, LUMI, is located in CSC’s data center in Kajaani, Finland.

HISSA

Modern society is completely dependent on power networks as well as satellite, radar, and radio signals, which are all susceptible to disturbances in the ionosphere. HISSA aims to use HPC resources to construct an accurate model for magnetosphere-ionosphere interactions and develop novel load-balancing and parallel algorithms facilitating high-resolution magnetospheric simulations.

OpenSuperQPlus100

OpenSuperQPlus100 aims to deliver full-stack quantum computer demonstrators, one of which will contain at least 100 high-quality qubits. A major focal point will be to increase the number of entangled qubits towards 50, which is near the point where the simulation capacity of classical supercomputers is exceeded.

The goal of the Puhuri project is to implement a common service layer to manage user and group information and resource allocations in a multinational context, with the LUMI supercomputer as the driving case.
