Additional Information
In this webinar we will look at example GIS use cases, which suite to CSC cloud services cPouta and Rahti:
  • Web services
  • Database applications
  • Complicated software stacks, that are difficult to install to Taito/Puhti.
  • Course environments.
These are true for all science areas, but in this webinar you will focus on a series of GIS specific solutions that have been implemented in CSC's cloud platforms. The examples are documented for you to adapt and make use of them. Documentation include setting up a remote Ubuntu desktop with QGIS, creating a PostgreSQL/PostGIS server, installing GeoServer in cPouta and Rahti, using OpenDroneMap in Docker container, setting up custom JupyterLab Python environment to The webinar will show you how to find these materials, the basics on how to use them and will demonstrate how you would apply and make use of a couple of examples.

Prerequisites: attending the webinar does not require other than your interest in the topic. Following the documentation details for own installations will require at least basics of Linux and CSC's cPouta/Rahti. Remember that CSC's cloud platforms are self-service, and thus the user is required to be able to manage own installations and set-up, but we are happy to help you getting started.
