TEHDAS 2
Second Joint Action Towards the European Health Data Space
European researchers, businesses and policy makers face many barriers to the cross-border use of health data. Data is needed to prevent and treat diseases more effectively in the future. TEHDAS2 responds to the EU-wide technical and policy implementation challenges concerning the secondary use of health data across borders.
The European Health Data Space (EHDS) aims to harmonise the secondary use of health data by creating a common legal framework. Efforts at the Member State and EU levels are needed to ensure an aligned path on the common measures for EHDS implementation.
The main aim of the joint action is to prepare the ground for harmonised implementation of the EHDS on the secondary use of health data and develop collaboration between all key stakeholders. The goal is to develop common guidelines and technical specifications to facilitate smooth access to health data and strengthen European collaboration in using data efficiently. The secondary use of health data enhances the competitiveness of European research and innovation in the health sector.
CSC is primarily responsible for developing technical specifications for Health Data Access Bodies to implement Secure Processing Environments (SPEs). The ambition of TEHDAS 2 is to shape the future of digital health in Europe by enabling faster access to health data, driving innovation, and advancing evidence-based treatments, policies, and regulations. Its long-term impact includes boosting research and innovation, supporting informed policymaking, and enhancing the societal value of data and knowledge.
