Knowledge Exchange

Knowledge Exchange is a partnership of six national organisations (CSC, CNRS, DeiC, DFG, Jisc and SURF) whose mission is to support the development of ICT infrastructure for research and higher education. All partners share a vision that scholarship should be open. Knowledge Exchange aims to support open science and development of information infrastructures and services on an international level to enable the use of digital technologies in order to improve higher education and research.

Knowledge Exchange increases the impact of its partner organisations’ activities by creating synergies through international exchange of knowledge between experts in the area of digital infrastructure and services for research and higher education, building on the results of the expert exchanges to influence developments in the field of information infrastructure.

Best practices, solutions and innovative approaches are exchanged between the partners and, where relevant, with the partners' communities to push their contributions in support of open science by improving their performance at all levels and creating more effective and efficient solutions. It continues to work on the themes of the two focus areas, Open Access and Open Science, and has developed the Open Scholarship Framework to be able to fully include the broad range of perspectives that the transition to open scholarship needs.

CSC has been a member of Knowledge Exchange since 2013 and engages stakeholders and internal experts to the work through the two expert groups on open science and open access and leads the expert group on open science.
