KUHA2
Sports and Well-being Data Analytics Program in Kainuu
During the KUHA project, national data projects related to exercise and well-being were mapped, the value chain was prepared taking into account the needs of companies, research ethics and data protection issues related to the use of athlete data were clarified, the architecture of the data pool was prepared and connections were created with various actors.
The KUHA2 project will continue the above by creating a practical application that visualizes athlete and synthetic data collected from different sources in a common data pool. The goal is to create a user-friendly and visually attractive tool that enables quick feedback to athletes and coaches, and which can be used in exercise and well-being more broadly in the future. With the help of the visualization tool, it will be possible in the future to demonstrate the benefits of a shared data pool in relation to both the Finnish Olympic Committee’s national sports and exercise data strategy and the activities of companies and other national research institutes.
The project is implemented between three actors – the University of Jyväskylä’s Vuokatti Sports Technology Unit, CSC – IT Center For Science and Kajaani University of Applied Sciences. The University of Jyväskylä coordinates the project and is responsible for producing athlete data (winter sports) and specifying the visualization tool. CSC prepares the architecture of the data pool in such a way that the data can be used for visualization, taking data protection into account, so that the data can be used for research and training activities. CSC also produces synthetic data, so that larger amounts of data can also be tested in the demonstration phase and artificial intelligence testing can be started in other projects. The Kajaani University of Applied Sciences is responsible for making the user interface and the visualization tool.
