Leveraging HPC in data-intensive international research – opportunities and future prospects
Science and research are by nature international: many challenges and issues modern societies face concern people across national boundaries, and thus cross-border cooperation between researchers, policymakers and organisations is essential to address them.
Finland has made significant investments in internationally high-class research infrastructures, such as the LUMI infrastructure. In order to make the most out of these resources, it is important that these infrastructures are leveraged in international research collaboration.
CSC – IT Center for Science is organising a high-level event on leveraging high-performance computing (HPC) in data-intensive international research, held on 23 September and we warmly welcome you to follow this event through online streaming.
The event brings together policymakers, funders, researchers and HPC experts to address challenges and opportunities in international research and HPC via considering the following questions: What are the trends in international research collaboration? How can we strengthen these international partnerships through policies and funding instruments? What is the role of HPC in research collaboration?
The programme will feature a keynote setting the scene for the topic, showcase practical experiences from a multitude of international collaborative projects between Finnish and Coloradan and Finnish and Japanese researchers, and provide a future outlook through talks from the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and the Research Council of Finland, as well as open discussion.
Registration to the online event by 21.9.2025
We look forward to welcoming you to this event!
