CSC and the National Computational Infrastructure Australia sign MoU to enhance collaboration in HPC and data management

Under the MoU, the parties agree to exchange information and share best practices on HPC operations and eco-efficient data center operations, facilitate HPC-centric research collaborations and promote the development of high speed, big data transfer capabilities and technologies. CSC and NCI will together explore funding and project opportunities for advancing joint interest as well as create opportunities for joint talent development and training.

NCI Director Professor Sean Smith noted that this MOU is very timely as international engagements between NCI and prominent international supercomputing facilities ramp up. “NCI and CSC have many common interests and challenges, not least of which is the fact that they both operate with zero carbon emissions due to renewable energy sources supplying the electricity consumed.”

CSC Managing Director Kimmo Koski highlighted that this strategic partnership with NCI is an important addition to CSC’s global collaboration efforts. NCI is a well-respected Australian organization providing high-quality computational and data-intensive services. “This MoU is a step towards strengthening our cooperation with NCI, and CSC is looking forward to exchanging knowledge, skills and competence and working together towards our common goals.”
