EuroHPC JU’s Extreme Scale and Regular Access calls open
The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking’s (EuroHPC JU) Extreme Scale and Regular Access calls to access its supercomputers, including LUMI, are open. The calls are open to all fields of science.
EuroHPC JU Extreme Scale Access call
The Extreme Scale call is targeting applications with high-impact and high-gain innovative research. The call is open to all fields of science, industry and public sector justifying the need for and the capacity to use extremely large allocations in terms of compute time, data storage and support resources.
The EuroHPC supercomputers provided for this call are LUMI, located in Finland, Leonardo, located in Italy and MareNostrum5, located in Spain.
The next cut-off dates for proposals are 17 April 2024 and 4 October 2024.
This call offers three distinctive application tracks:
• Scientific Access – Intended for applications from the academia and public research institutes.
• Industry Access – Intended for applications with Principal Investigator (PIs) coming from industry.
• Public Administration Access – Intended for applications with PIs coming from the public sector.

EuroHPC JU Regular Access call
The Regular Access mode is open to all fields of science, industry and the public sector, and invites applications that present compelling cases that will enable scientific innovation in the domains covered. The expected impact in the application’s domain should justify the need for large allocations in terms of compute time, data storage and support resources.
This access mode distributes resources from the EuroHPC peta-scale and pre-exascale systems: Vega, located in Slovenia, MeluXina, located in Luxemburg, Karolina, located in the Czech Republic, Discoverer, located in Bulgaria, LUMI, located in Finland, Leonardo, located in Italy, and MareNostrum, located in Spain.
The next cut-off date for proposals is 6 September 2024.
Also, the EuroHPC JU Regular Access call offers three distinctive application tracks: Scientific Access, Industry Access and Public Administration Access.
