SD Desktop Approved for Processing of Findata Permitted Data
CSC has published services for processing sensitive research data, the services have been designed based on ensured security. Now the family of services has been updated with a limited version of the SD Desktop service, which has been tailored to support the processing of data permitted for secondary use by Findata, the national Finnish data permit authority for the social and health care sector. SD Desktop has been audited against the requirements set by Findata’s regulation for secure operating environments, and has been approved in the Toini database of secondary use environments by National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health Valvira.
Edit 1.7.2022: The news item has been edited by removing all mentions to SD Desktop Limited Edition or SD Desktop LE. When applying for data permission from Findata, the service should always be referred to as SD Desktop.
Access requests to SD Desktop for Findata permitted data can be addressed to CSC customer service at servicedesk@csc.fi. Other SD service family services, such as SD Connect, cannot be utilized in data transfers to SD Desktop at this time, nor can the analysis environment be tailored by adding users own software or source code. SD Desktop is a part of the free of charge national IT service offering for the Finnish research community, provided by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture through CSC.
As of 1 May 2022, Findata grants data permits only to use environments that have audit base certificate of fulfilling the requirements set in its regulation on secure operating environments. Findata’s mandate stems from the secondary use act (Act on the Secondary Use of Health and Social Data 552/2019).
