CSC

Noora, who aims to become an expert in data analytics, studied computer science during her bachelor’s degree but sought new challenges for her master’s program – one that would combine practical tools and techniques with analytics and business insight.

“I learned a lot of basics during my studies, but it’s only at work that the pieces have started to fall into place. It’s been amazing to see theory turn into practice,” Noora says.

Her summer job at CSC offered exactly that opportunity.

Taking the first steps toward a career

Noora came across CSC’s summer positions by chance while looking for a job in spring 2025. After exploring the openings, maintenance tasks seemed like a good match for her skills. Her goal was clear: to land her first job in her own field.

“I had only worked in retail before, so getting this chance without prior industry experience was a big deal,” Noora recalls.

The interview left a warm and encouraging impression, and soon she found herself at CSC.

Working with sensitive data

During the summer, Noora worked in customer support for CSC’s sensitive data services. Most of her tasks involved solving customer tickets, but no two cases were exactly alike.

“There are routines, but you’re constantly learning something new. That’s the best part.”

Her work combines technical skills, problem-solving, and understanding service structures – things her studies prepared her for more than she expected.

“Sometimes during studies you think you’ll never need a certain skill. And then that’s exactly what comes up at work,” she laughs.

One of her biggest insights has been understanding the importance of cybersecurity.

“Its role in service development and maintenance is huge. I’ve learned so much about that.”

A great team makes all the difference

One of the best things about CSC has been the team Noora works with. Even though they work from different locations, the connection is strong: team chats aren’t always about work. They build a sense of community too.

“Work doesn’t always feel like work when you’re surrounded by great people.”

After the traineeship, Noora continued at CSC part-time alongside her studies. Balancing work and school isn’t always easy, but support from her supervisor has made it possible.

“If things get overwhelming, you can say so. That’s been a huge relief,” Noora notes.

The Summer Xperience program was also an important part of her experience. It brought trainees together and gave her a broader view of CSC’s operations.

“Without the program, I wouldn’t have met so many people or realized how diverse CSC really is.”

Looking ahead

In the future, Noora wants to deepen her expertise in data analytics and apply her skills in increasingly versatile ways. She enjoys tasks that challenge her and help her learn. Staying stagnant would be the worst.

“Data analytics is a field where you really get to use your brain. It suits me perfectly,” Noora says.

CSC supports that ambition: the organization encourages internal mobility and curiosity.

“Here, you’re supported in finding your own path. CSC is an easy place to start, even if you don’t have much experience yet. The atmosphere is great, people help and encourage you.

And if you’re curious to try new things, that’s seen as a strength here.”
