Digivisio 2030: Higher education institutions developing the future of learning

Digivisio 2030 is a project in which Finnish higher education institutions are joining forces to build the future of learning. The project involves 37 Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences. The first Digivisio implementation is the Opin.fi service, which brings together a wide range of open courses from Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences.

CSC supports the unique collaboration between higher education institutions within Digivisio 2030

The Digivisio 2030 project aims to respond to many societal challenges in Finland.

The objectives are:

  • improving competence
  • enabling continuous learning
  • strengthening Finland’s competitiveness
  • responding to skills shortages

The project forms a wide-ranging network in which all the participating higher education institutions work together.

The programme is owned and steered by the higher education institutions, and the Digivisio project office is part of CSC. CSC’s role is to support the exceptionally wide-ranging collaboration between higher education institutions. The project benefits from CSC’s long-term expertise on the operating environment and systems of higher education institutions, data management, interoperability, and ensuring data security.

The Opin.fi service is the first tangible result of Digivisio

The first tangible result of the collaboration between higher education institutions within Digivisio is the Opin.fi service, which was released in spring 2025.

Opin.fi brings together a wide range of open courses at Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences. The service helps users to find open studies to suit their exact life stage. The user can search, compare and filter studies at different higher education institutions in a single service. The service offers thousands of courses in Finnish, Swedish and English with both contact teaching and distance learning. The development of the service continues.

The Digivisio work is progressing

The Digivisio work continues, and the next phase focuses on implementing a digital solution for study vouchers in the Opin.fi service, the learning pathways of degree students, and strengthening cooperation between higher education institutions, among other things. Digivisio is also responsible for building a shared data platform for higher education institutions. The new data platform will replace the VIRTA higher education achievement register.

Digivisio also aims to promote the interoperability of services provided by European higher education institutions. CSC’s robust experience in international cooperation and extensive networks supports this work.
