President Alexander Stubb visited LUMI data center at Kajaani
CSC was honoured to host President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb during his visit to CSC’s Kajaani data center on Wednesday, February 19. The visit provided an opportunity to present the LUMI supercomputer and discuss its significance for science, research, innovation and business.
LUMI contributes to solving global challenges by providing a computational platform for multidisciplinary research, combining data from different fields to create new understanding. LUMI also opens doors to international research collaboration and partnerships and increases Finland’s attractiveness as a RDI and investment environment.
The discussions highlighted, among other things, the need to develop European large language models as part of building competitiveness in the field of AI, as well as the energy efficiency of data centers and the importance of digital infrastructures.

CSC Managing Director Kimmo Koski commented on the visit:
“We thank President Stubb for the visit and valuable ideas that inspired us to continue our work towards more effective solutions, and to build the success of Finland and Europe now and in the future.”
