CSC statement on digital identity
CSC considers the objectives of the proposal and the proposed solutions to be generally justified and supportable. However, CSC believes that the national implementation needs to look at the compatibility of the solution with existing regulations and ensure that national policies are in line with EU-level legislation.
The national implementation must also be able to adapt to future developments. For example, it is important that Finland actively participates in the preparation of the eIDAS regulation at EU level and takes this development into account at the national level.
A digital identity made up of separate attributes allows the user to choose what information to share with whom. This is to be welcomed by CSC as it strengthens the management of the user’s own identity in accordance with MyData and data sovereignty policies. At the same time, users need support to be able to make informed decisions about sharing their information.
