Digihuone builds shared understanding of the digitalization of research, learning and innovation
Digitalization is rapidly transforming the operating environment of research, learning and innovation activities. As this transformation unfolds, new phenomena, opportunities and questions emerge, yet natural forums for discussing them collectively do not always exist. CSC’s Digihuone was created to meet this need.
Organized by CSC, Digihuone provides an open forum for exploring these topics together. Held online approximately once a month, the event brings together experts from Finnish higher education institutions, research organizations, public authorities and other stakeholder groups to discuss current developments in digitalization and identify emerging trends.
The aim of Digihuone is to build a shared understanding of the digitalization of research, learning and innovation, while also highlighting new initiatives and topics that may not yet have their own established networks or collaboration structures.
Updated shared overview to be presented at the September 2026 Digihuone
At the next Digihuone on Wednesday, 23 September, the Ministry of Education and Culture will present the new shared overview designed to support information sharing and the development of a common understanding across different stakeholders.
The purpose of the shared overview is to provide a shared and transparent view of the sector’s services and development activities, while bringing together key themes related to digitalization and interoperability to support discussion. The shared overview will replace the roadmap currently available on the ka.csc.fi website. The overview is currently maintaned by the Ministry of Education and Culture and CSC, with support from higher education institutions and the Finnish National Agency for Education.
The new shared overview offers a new way to examine changes in the operating environment, identify emerging developments, and build a shared understanding of future directions. It serves as a tool for both management and experts, helping to place individual initiatives and developments within a broader context. Digihuone, in turn, provides a forum where themes emerging from the shared overview can be brought into collective discussion.
Introducing the shared overview at Digihuone will also give participants an opportunity to comment and discuss how shared perspectives can support collaboration between higher education institutions, research organizations, and other stakeholders.
A need for dialogue across organizational boundaries
Digihuone offers an opportunity to pause and reflect together on current developments in digitalization. The purpose of the event is not only to share information but also to foster collective learning and the exchange of perspectives. Through discussion, participants gain new insights, peer support and a stronger shared understanding of a rapidly changing environment.
