RDI must be raised as a strategic priority for the society as a whole – CSC’s statement on RDI funding law
CSC gave a statement on the government’s proposal for legislative act to increase funding for research and development activities in 2024-2030. Solving national and global challenges requires new skills and innovations. This boils down to the need to invest in R&D activities sustainably and strategically over the government periods, so that nationally we can reach our goal of raising the share of RDI funding to at least four percent of our GDP. CSC supports the government’s proposal to increase Finland’s research and development investments and to improve the predictability and sustainability of the RDI operating environment.
Emphasis was placed on the necessity to recognize the strategic nature of R&D activities – in other words, its impressive impact on Finnish society as a whole, especially now, when we have to be able to provide global solutions to complex challenges when it comes to Finland’s economic growth and competitiveness. The conrerstone for this is competence and skills development.
